Our National Museum, RijksMuseum Amsterdam opened in 1885 and is a spectacular building with exciting architectural details at every corner.
Before you get to the art, have a look at the breathtaking neo classisistich building. For the Duch it reads like a history book and there are many hidden secrets.
In chronological order, on four floors, you can see wonderful paintings, furniture, ceramics, armour, jewellery – everything that is connected to the history of The Netherlands.
The world famous painting ‘The Night Watch’ by Rembrandt is one of the highlights of the museum.
A short summery of Dutch masters is exposed in the Gallery of Honor, with works of Frans Hals, Jan Steen and Vermeer.
The museum has around 8,000 objects on display.
